Effect of Hominis placenta on the ovariectomised osteoporotic Rats

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of Hominis placenta on trabecular area and physiological change in the ovariectomized osteoporotic Rats
This experament was performed to investigate antiosteoporosis effects of Hominis placenta on osteoporosis induced by both ovariectomy in rats. So rats were divided into Sham group and OVX group. OVX groups were divided into control, Exp groups.)
The ratios of trabecular area seen in ephiphysis and diaphysis of tibia and phisological change were as follows.
1. In bone mineral density, Exp group showed a little increase in comparison with control group.
2. In the epiphysis of tibia, control group showed a significant decrease of 21.4% in comparison with sham group.(P<0.0001) Exp group showed a signficant increase of 36.6% in comparison with control group.(P<0.05)
3. In the diaphysis of tibia, control group showed a significant decrease of 53% in comparison with sham group.(P<0.0001) Exp group showed a signficant increase of 74.9% in comparison with control group.(P<0.005)
4. In the osteocalcin, control group showed a significant increase in comparison with sham group.(P<0.01) Exp groups showed a signficant decrease in comparison with control group.(P<0.05)
5. In the bone alkaline phosphatase(BALP), control group showed a significant increase in comparison with sham group.(P<0.05) while Exp group was decreased in comparison with control group. But a signficance was not noted.
6. In the GOT, control group showed a little increase in comparison with sham group. while Exp group showed a signficant decrease in comparison with control group.(P<0.05).
7. In the GPT, control group showed a little increase in comparison with sham group. while Exp group showed a signficant decrease in comparison with control group.(P<0.005).
From the above results, it might be suggested that Hominis placenta prevented the decrease of trabecular area and bone mass, activated osteogenesis through osteoblasts proliferation in the ovariectomized osteoporotic Rats.
